March 27-28 the lakefront will host Spring Fling wake board contest

Page Heyward, Rotary Club of St. Cloud president announced that the 2nd annual Spring Fling Wakefest will take place on East Lake Tohopekaliga on March 27 and 28, 2010.
Time on the Water, LLC of Orlando, that skillfully managed the first Wakefest event will return again to manage this year’s event. It will be under the under the direction of Mr. Chad Brown.
“We are so excited to have the Wakefest again this year. This type of event draws people from all walks of life, and last year’s wakeboard and wakeskate was so successful, that this year’s competition will ramp up the USA Nationals to also be held at the Lakefront in early September,” said Heyward. “It’s an incredible compliment to the city to host such an event!”
The two day extreme sport of wakeboarding and wakeskating competition is a major attraction of the Spring Fling event. Spectators can bring their lawn chairs and set them up to watch the event. Bleachers will be set up at the Dan Terrell Memorial Point where the best view of the competition can be seen. No admission will be charged to watch this competition. Bring the whole family. Enjoy the day. Marvel at the skills amateurs have achieved at wakeboarding and wakeskating.
The competitive divisions in the amateur competition include: Grom, boys and girls 9 years of age; boys and girls 10 to 13 years of age; Novice boys and girls of all ages; Amateur Wakeskate, boys and girls of all ages; Intermediate, boys and girls of all ages; Women’s Division, show what you have got, anything goes, all ages; Advanced, boys and girls of all ages; Outlaw Wakeskate, show what you have got; Outlaw Wakeboard, show what you have got.
The competition starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning September 27 at Dan Tarrell Memorial Point and will continue all day. On Sunday the top contenders from the Saturday competition will vie for top honors. It is expected that winners will be announced and awards will be presented by mid-afternoon on Sunday for all divisions.
