27th Annual Pioneer Day

Join the Osceola County Historical Society for the 27th Annual Pioneer Day event, sponsored by Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures, on November 10, 2018 from 10AM to 4PM. This tradition was started in 1991 by the Osceola County Historical Society as a way to share Osceola County’s history with its residents and visitors. Celebrate Osceola County’s rich history, learn about Osceola County’s pioneer families, and experience 19th century pioneer life during this FREE outdoor festival.

The 27th Annual Pioneer Day event features family friendly activities, including live music, kid’s craft zone, a real Florida market, historic reenactment, and lessons in pioneer chores like hand washed laundry and butter-making. Peek into the blacksmith shop for a lesson on 19th century metalwork and rope winding. Learn about centuries old woodworking techniques and take home your very own shaker box. Watch the splendid beauty of Seminole Indian dancers at the Pow Wow under the Oaks. Listen to country-folk music played by local musicians and visit the food tent for barbeque smoked to perfection by local pit masters.

Set amongst a gorgeous, natural backdrop, the site features four historic, architecturally diverse homes: the Lanier House, Tyson House, Partin Family House, and the Cadman Complex, which also includes the oldest citrus fruit packing house in the world. Enjoy your lunch at the Pavilion, with seating for 150 individuals, which offers shade and a comfortable spot to view the replica historic structures, including a church, schoolhouse, train depot, and general store. Stroll down the crushed shell path of Citrus Junction, the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek’s quaint community, and learn more about a time before television, air conditioning, motorized vehicles, and the internet. The 27th Annual Pioneer Day will be hosted at the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek, located at 2491 Babb Rd.
