CFX to Hold Osceola Parkway Extension PD&E Study Re-evaluation Public Workshop

Released By Central Florida Expressway Authority

The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study Re-evaluation for the proposed Osceola Parkway Extension, as identified in their 2040 Master Plan. The purpose of the study re-evaluation is to determine if a new expressway connection between State Road 417 near Boggy Creek Road in Orange County and the proposed Sunbridge Parkway in Osceola County is viable and fundable in accordance with CFX policies and procedures.

The overall goals of the Osceola Parkway Extension are to provide improved connections between area roads; accommodate anticipated transportation demand; provide consistency with local and regional plans; support economic viability and job creation; support intermodal opportunities; and enhance evacuation and emergency services.

The public workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Lake Nona Middle School located at 13700 Narcoossee Road, Orlando, FL 32832 (see map).

During the workshop, the CFX study team’s recommendation for the preferred alternative will be presented for public input. Based on the input we receive, the alternatives may be further refined. The exhibits on display will include the study alternatives and an evaluation matrix of their potential impacts to the physical, natural, social and cultural environment. Public involvement and interagency coordination have been an integral part of the assessment process, and opportunities for participation will continue throughout the duration of the study process.

When the PD&E Study Re-evaluation concludes, it will result in a recommendation to the CFX Governing Board of the preferred alternative. If the project is approved by the CFX Governing Board, it would move forward for further project development.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons with disabilities who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services, free of charge, should contact: Mary Brooks, Public Involvement Coordinator, by phone at 407-802-3210 or email at ProjectStudies@CFXway.com at least seven (7) days prior to the hearing.
