Released By City of Kissimmee
The Kissimmee City Commission presented the Ruby Award to Roy’s Safe & Lock, Inc. during a scheduled meeting held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The Ruby Award was created to recognize those companies within City limits that have been in business for over 40 years in our community.
“The Ruby Award provides the City the opportunity to celebrate those businesses that have stood the test of time successfully. Roy’s Safe & Lock, Inc. has been servicing our community for 61 years allowing multiple generations of the family to learn the locksmith trade,” Economic Development Director, Belinda O. Kirkegard said.
Roy’s Safe & Lock, Inc. opened its doors in February 1957 by Roy Ingersoll. Ingersoll had learned a number of trades, but was interested in learning more hobbies and that’s when he purchased the Belsaw locksmithing technical training book and became a proficient locksmith. What started off as a hobby resulted in Roy Ingersoll opening up the first locksmith storefront in all of Osceola County, which first operated out of his garage. Today, Roy’s Safe & Lock is located at 306 W. Oak Street.
