Kevin Kersey, an agent with Crosby and Associates, Inc. in St. Cloud has recently been accepted to the doctoral of educational leadership program at Florida Southern College. This PhD program is centered on Educational Leadership, a topic for which Kevin has shown an affinity for over the course of his career. As an educator with eight years’ experience, and with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural education and communication from the University of Florida and a master’s of science degree in secondary reading education from Grand Canyon University, Kevin has demonstrated a commitment to education that has laid the groundwork for his newest academic pursuit.
Kevin has been building an impressive resume over recent years. In addition to being a sterling agent with Crosby and Associates, he has dedicated much of his time towards educating students of varying age groups, ranging from kindergarten through high school over an array of topics, which include language arts, reading, speech and debate and agriculture. Always one to make a lasting impact, Kevin developed the first agricultural education program at the middle school level in Osceola County. He was voted 2020 teacher of the year by his peers at Gateway High School this year and will move onto the district level. The district 2020 teacher of the year will be announced in the spring at the annual teacher of the year banquet. Kevin is currently the educational media specialist at Gateway High School where he has totally flipped the media center into a more student-centered environment. He furthers his service to the school and its students by serving as both the School Advisory Council Coordinator and the Partners in Education coordinator.
When Kevin completes the doctoral program at Florida Southern College, he will then be eligible to sit for the Florida Education Leadership Exam (FELE), a six-hour exam. Students who pass the FELE are certified as an administrator in the state of Florida, qualifying them for positions such as principal, assistant principal and other high-level administrative positions at the district level.
“I’m very excited to begin this new chapter of my academic career,” Kevin stated. “I’ve never been one to do things half-way, and finishing a doctorate degree is the final stepping stone in my academic development. I look forward to applying the knowledge I have gained and will gain in the coming years to further the gift of education, whether that be for students of the Florida school system, or buyers and sellers who are in need of a knowledgeable professional who can successfully aid them in their property transactions. Knowledge is a gift that keeps on giving.”
Kevin’s Designated REALTOR® at the St. Cloud office of Crosby and Associates, Broker Associate Carol Platt, can attest to his drive for learning, saying, “Kevin has proven himself to be an astute agent who has gained a mastery in the field through his pursuit of knowledge and professional growth. His ambition is inspiring and raises his potential in every endeavor he seeks. I congratulate him on his acceptance to Florida Southern’s PhD program, and look forward to the future successes he is certain to achieve!
