Osceola Arts will open 2019 with The Nerd later this month. Beginning Friday, January 25th and running through Sunday, February 10th, the Osceola Arts Main stage will showcase Larry Shue’s inventive stage comedy.

Set in the 1970’s rural Indiana, The Nerd tells the story of Willum, a young ex-GI architect who is visited by Rick Steadman, the man who saved his life in Vietnam. Although the two have never met, Willum is elated that Rick is visiting for his birthday. However, Rick isn’t your average houseguest. His awkward behaviors lead to a hilarious series of shenanigans at the party. Directed by David Gerrard, The Nerd features a talented ensemble of Osceola Arts newcomers and familiar faces.

Tickets start at only $22, with Senior, student and group rates available. Showtimes for The Nerd are 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 2pm on Sundays, and an additional 2pm matinee performance on Saturday, February 2nd.

Osceola Arts is also pleased to bring back a very popular art exhibit. The National Arts Program exhibit will be on display through February 8th in the Main Gallery. Sponsored by the National Arts Program Foundation in support and cooperation with Osceola Arts, the exhibit features over 160 pieces created by Osceola School District and Osceola Arts employees, their immediate family members, retirees, volunteers and current Osceola Arts students. The National Arts Program is designed to give artists, at all skill levels, an uninhibited opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional manner and to compete for cash prizes in a number of categories. All exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public.
