Released By Osceola County Community Outreach/Public Information Office
Osceola County Commissioners recently approved the purchase of vacant commercial space on approximately 4.6 acres of land along the West U.S. 192 corridor to be used by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office as a West Command Center.
The property, located at 2925 International Drive, was purchased for $5.5 million. It was previously a grocery store and is approximately 50,000 square feet in size. The Sheriff’s Office currently operates from a portion of a County fire station, located on Pleasant Hill Road, and receives a high volume of calls for service in the area.
“This property is a good investment, and is proof of this Board’s continued emphasis on public safety,” said Commission Chairwoman Cheryl Grieb. “And it will serve a great need for the Sheriff’s Office.”
In just a few years, Osceola County has invested more than $20 million in public safety, including new fire stations, new equipment, and new training centers for both County Fire/Rescue and the Sheriff’s Office that will make the community safer, Grieb said.
“The establishment of a Sheriff’s Command Center will be an asset to the West 192 corridor and all of District 1, improving response times and creating a safer and more secure atmosphere for our residents, business owners and visitors,” said Commissioner Peggy Choudhry, whose district includes the property.
