The Osceola Reads literacy initiative, which is sponsored by the School District and Education Foundation of Osceola County, cities of Kissimmee and St. Cloud, and the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners announced its 2018 Partner of the Year as Kissimmee Utility Authority on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Kissimmee Utility Authority has continually gone above and beyond to support the Osceola Reads initiative and promote early childhood literacy to all of the children in Osceola County through providing tablets for giveaways, space at all of their events to engage with families in the community, and more.

“It’s part of the KUA mission to support and partner within our community. The Osceola Reads program is a wonderful way for us to give back and support the future minds of Osceola County. As an organization, we understand how imperative literacy skills are to our community, its residents and our future employees,” said Chris Gent, Vice President of Corporate Communications.

KUA is an invaluable partner in Osceola Reads’ effort to incentivize parents to actively assist their children in building a foundation for lifelong literacy, thus continuing to increase the school readiness rate of Osceola County’s youngest residents. As of March 2019, Osceola Reads had registered over 10,000 community users for the Footsteps2Brilliance® app since the launch of the program in February 2016, in addition to every student in the district grades VPK through 3rd grade.

Parents can register their children at www.OsceolaReads.com and download the free, bilingual Footsteps2Brilliance® app on any smart device. With 15 digital libraries, games, songs, and other early learning activities, Footsteps2Brilliance® offers literacy support from pre-kindergarten through second grade in two languages.
