For the first time, Osceola School District’s Early Childhood Learning Center will be hosting Kindergarten Countdown events for all children entering kindergarten in the fall and their parents. The events entitled “Bedtime Stories: Dreaming About Kindergarten” will promote early literacy and summer reading activities, encourage parent involvement, and provide families with important information pertaining to the transition into kindergarten in the Osceola School District. The events will be held in three locations:
Poinciana Area: May 2, 2019, at Liberty High School from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. School located at 4250 Pleasant Hill Road in Kissimmee.
Kissimmee Area: May 7, 2019, at Thacker Avenue Elementary School for International Studies from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. School located at 301 Thacker Avenue in Kissimmee.
St. Cloud Area: May 16, 2019, at Ross E. Jeffries Early Childhood Learning Center from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Center located at 1200 Vermont Avenue in St. Cloud.
Children who are entering kindergarten in the fall are invited to wear their pajamas to these “Bedtime Stories” events. Attendees will participate in read-alouds, visit vendor booths, register for giveaways, and learn about how to best prepare for the transition into kindergarten in August.
Parents who have not yet registered their child for kindergarten are encouraged to visit their home-zoned school or the school they applied to through School Choice today to complete the enrollment process for next school year.
