Road Closure and Detour Scheduled for Old Canoe Creek Road

Osceola County – Beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, July 14, the north side of Old Canoe Creek Road at State Road (S.R.) 500/U.S. 192 will be closed. The closure will last for approximately a week so the contractor, Jr. Davis Construction Company, can perform drainage work. A detour will be in effect; U.S. 192 traffic needing to access Old Canoe Creek Road will be directed to use either Commerce Center Drive or Brown Chapel Road and Fifth Street (see map below). Electronic message boards have been installed to inform motorists about the road closure, and detour signs will direct traffic. Access to the Suntrust Bank at Old Canoe Creek Road will be maintained. The closure will remain in place through the weekend (July 15-16) so the contractor can perform dewatering operations. The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen S.R. 500 (U.S. 192) from Aeronautical Drive to Budinger Avenue. Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Schedule updates are available at the FDOT Central Florida website, www.cflroads.com. FDOT encourages all drivers to use caution through construction zones.
