On January 8, 2019, The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1076 Cypress Parkway, Kissimmee Florida, in reference to a report of an armed robbery. The victim reported she was exiting the Dollar Tree when she was approached by an unknown male with a handgun. The suspect demanded her purse but she hesitated and was struck in the face by the suspect. The victim was able to provide a great description of the suspect and the vehicle involved. Responding patrol deputies were able to quickly locate the suspect vehicle and obtain a positive identification from the victim. Juan Luis Mendez was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without further incident. Mendez was charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and Grand Theft.
