Soldier City Wrestling Club is Accepting New Students

Soldier City Wrestling Club is an AAU organization that meets each Monday and Wednesday in the St. Cloud High School wrestling room from 6:00 pm until 7:15 pm. Practices are led by St. Cloud High School coaches Don Cash, Eric Scrivens and Dakota Voltolina. The club is open to anyone in grades K-8. No experience is necessary and there is no charge to attend.

Coach Eric Scrivens, one of the Varsity High School coaches and an English teacher at the school, expounded on the benefits of the program. “Wrestling is one of the oldest sports in the world and has a rich history of teaching young men and women some of the best values they can have. Principles like discipline, strength, resiliency, and perseverance are all essential in the sport of wrestling and in the game of life.”

The St. Cloud High School Varsity wrestlers help out by putting kids through practices consisting of running, jumping, tumbling, and wrestling instruction. St. Cloud High School Senior Christian Rangle said “it’s important to give back to the program. Long after I’ve graduated, these kids will still be around. They are the future of the program.”

Don Cash stated “Here at Soldier City wrestling club we promote each of these lessons with our kids, but we infuse one extra element, FUN. We want our kids to learn these lessons but we work hard to make it fun for all ages and skill levels.”

Cash also stated “The youth club is extremely important to me in terms of our overall wrestling program at St. Cloud. My number one goal for the kid’s club is retention. To make sure that kids continue to want to come back. We do all we can to make sure the practices are fun as well as challenging.”

Parents are advised to enter the school from Bulldog Ln., off of Michigan Ave.
