St. Cloud Fire Station #31 personnel were visited by six-year-old Wesley Mains and his grandfather May 26. Wesley had one mission – to present the crews with a toy fire engine that his grandfather, Larry Widmer, had purchased for him. He was very proud of his decision to donate his toy as a token of appreciation, along with a plaque that he also donated. Wesley, who said he wants to be a firefighter, was very excited when he visited the fire station and enjoyed a tour of the fire station that the crew was happy to provide for his kindness. Wesley learned about the station’s fire trucks and equipment and even sprayed water from a fire hose. The toy fire engine and plaque are now on display in the station’s front lobby for the public to enjoy. It also serves as a constant reminder of how a child’s act of kindness can make a difference in a public servant’s life.
