If you’ve taken a walk through downtown St. Cloud lately, you will notice a plethora of existing and new businesses awaiting your arrival. Our featured business this month is The Studio, located on Pennsylvania Avenue which is both an aesthetics and wellness spa as well as a yoga studio.

Founded by Laura Ter Beek, The Studio, formerly “She Is” first opened in July of 2016 in downtown St. Cloud. The goal for Laura was to take her lash artistry to the next level by moving out of the salon environment to accommodate her lash clients in a quiet and calm atmosphere. Laura stated, “She Is came from Proverbs 31 and it was in my heart to create a studio that really built up women and made them feel their best so that they could ultimately be their best self.” In September of 2016, Jacquie Dombovy joined Laura’s team as their esthetician, which opened The Studio to be able to offer facials, waxing and brow tinting. Fast forward to March of 2017 when The Studio added their first massage therapist.

With Laura’s business growing and her team of licensed professionals increasing, it was time to expand. In April of 2017 Laura signed a new lease just a block away from her previous location. After the lease was signed, Laura and her team got to work immediately and completely transformed their new location into a soothing and welcoming environment. Since moving in July of last year, The Studio has added yoga, acupuncture, another massage therapist and Jacquie has also increased her availability. The Studio continues to offer lash extensions, brow tinting, holistic facials, sugaring and waxing. “I chose to go for a holistic and wellness approach noticing that there were no other spas like that in the area and was really wanting to help people find their way to wellness, as well as wanting to show people that there are wonderful ways to take care of yourself and deal with issues/injuries without all the medication that many people are fed” expressed Laura.

All the services provided at The Studio are done by appropriately licensed and trained professionals. “Many people think that you don’t have to be licensed to do lash extensions, you do and most other companies offering lash extensions in our area are not licensed to do so” voiced Laura.

The Studio’s yoga instructors are certified to provide specialized yoga instruction, including but not limited to Yoga for Veterans or Yoga for Trauma, Kids Yoga and Senior/Chair Yoga. They also offer private & semi-private yoga for people that are not able to make it to their regular classes or want more personalized instruction.

Holistic facials, sugaring, Botnia skincare and craniosacral therapy and lymphatic drainage are some of the services provided that make The Studio different from others.

Holistic Facials: Powdered herbs and vitamins are used to customize each and every facial. Jacquie is a certified herbalist and brings her knowledge of the benefits and power of herbs to her facials. “Everyone that has tried a holistic facial with us that has also tried more extreme facial services in the past (i.e. microdermabrasion) has either had just as good or better results with us” stated Laura.

Sugaring: A natural form of hair removal using a sugar paste that is typically made of sugar, water and lemon juice. It doesn’t stick to the skin like wax does, causing less irritation, and can be removed with water at the end of the service. The guest goes home without a bunch of sticky areas like you may experience with waxing. Sugaring is applied and removed by using only the hand, instead of sticks or strips. The same ball of sugar paste is usually used throughout an entire service, making the service a lot more environmentally friendly.

Craniosacral Therapy & Lymphatic Drainage: Two modalities of massage that are offered that aid in healing. The Studio’s guests have seen reduced swelling through the use of lymphatic drainage and have found relief from anxiety and vertigo through craniosacral therapy.

Botnia Skincare: The Studio has recently partnered with Botnia Skincare, which is a natural, botanical line that is results driven and enhances facials. Herbs are grown in a micro-farm in Sausalito, CA and all products are made by hand and bottled in Botnia’s lab in Sausalito. Products are made fresh the week they are ordered. This line was created by an esthetician who is also the owner of The Skin Remedy Spa in San Francisco.

The Studio’s services are also available for birthdays, holidays or office parties by customizing a day of yoga and spa services. For example, The Studio team recently personalized a birthday party which began with a scrub workshop, which led to a group facial, followed by a yoga nidra class and ended with the birthday girl receiving some extra services.

Mark your calendars for their upcoming Botnia Skincare Launch Party on Thursday, April 12 from 6pm-8pm, Beginner + Intermediate Yoga Series on Sundays in April beginning April 8 and Yoga for Anxiety on Fridays in April. All other upcoming events can be found on their website thestudiostc.com/events. The Studio can be contacted at their location at 1006 Pennsylvania Ave. in downtown St Cloud, FL, by calling (407) 593-6013 or by visiting their website www.thestudiostc.com.
